How do Streaks work?

Streaks are based on how often you compost and log it. For LA Compost, you can achieve a streak by composting each consecutive month. For example. if you compost in January AND February, you’re on a streak! Drop offs do not have to be at the same location to count.

How do Levels work?

Levels are based on the number of times you compost and log it. The levels become more challenging as you progress (it takes fewer drop offs to get from Level 1 to Level 2, than it does to get from Level 8 to Level 9). Each level reveals a character who plays a key role in the compost process. Learn more about the wonderful world of compost and what makes the magic happen as you progress though the levels!

Are Levels based on weight, too?

No, Levels are only based on your number of drop offs. It’s not about how heavy your scraps are, or how many food scraps your household generates — it’s about the powerful action of choosing to compost again and again, instead of sending our precious nutrients to landfill.

Why are my All-Time Contributions different than my Levels?

Many amazing community members have been composting with us long before we upgraded our platform to incorporate Levels in January 2026. In order to enable everyone to participate in Levels, the drop offs that count towards your Level start from January 2026. Your previous history, stats and data are all counted and conveyed by your ledger and the All Time stats on your Impact page. Questions or concerns? Email us!
